Although Drain Rooter/cleaning is an effective way of clearing a stoppage, it’s not a permanent solution.When a mechanical snake (Rooter) is inserted into the drain line it will, in most cases, give temporary relief of the stoppage. The problem is, after the Rooter Machine is removed there is normally a large amount of debris stuck to the inner walls of the pipes causing the stoppage to return. The only way to help eliminate the problem on a permanent basis is to pressure wash the inner walls of the pipe.

Hydro-jetting is the only proven way to return the inner pipe to as close to its original condition as possible. The process will scour the inner walls with between 1000-30000 psi of high pressure water. The Hydro Jetting process will eliminate any build up to flow down the line eliminating the possibility of debris getting caught up and creating another stoppage.
The number one question to most is, how long will the Hydro Jetting last and will this process damage my pipes? First, let’s answer the “how long will it last” question. Basic snaking or rooting could last only a few days or it could last months. As described above, it’s hard to tell and it is not a 100% solution to drain stoppages.
Will Hydro Jetting damage my pipes?
The simple answer is no, if your piping is in good shape to begin with. Remember, Hydro Jetting is the only proven method of actually clearing the inner walls of your drain piping system. Galvanized piping is the traditional piping used in most houses built before the early 1970’s. Let’s imagine a pipe being used for sewage and water that’s been in place for 40+ years then let’s add the liquid drain cleaning element (Acid) to the old metal pipe.

Needless to say, this is not a good mixture. In most cases, what you end up with is an old rusted pipe that the acid has eaten through. Granted, this isn’t the scenario in all cases, but it sure paints an ugly picture. We may be able to help. If the piping is in decent shape, Hydro Jetting is the most cost effective way of cleaning the drainage piping without going to the expense of demolition or replacement.
Hydro Jetting Sewers with Roots
Can a Hydro Jetting remove roots? Yes they can, depending on the condition of the pipe.In most cases, the Hydro Jetting process can remove tree roots from a sewer pipe. Most sewer pipes made out of clay will allow roots to enter after time. These Clay Sewer Pipes were attached together every 6′ with cement. After time, the cement breaks down allowing water to escape through the connection points. It’s at this location that the roots penetrate into the sewer searching for water.

Upon entering into the smallest crack in the Clay Sewer Pipe the roots can spread like wild fire. I have personally seen tree roots enter into a Sewer Pipe about the size of a Q-tip and grow its root the size of an arm in width. Also, I have seen the same size enter into a sewer pipe and grow to fill the inside of a 4″ pipe solid 6′ long. In these cases, replacement is the only solution. Yet smaller growth can be removed and last years in some cases, but in time the roots will grow back.

The bad news with this piping is that the only option is replacement.After time, this Tar Paper molded piping collapses becoming oval, sometimes crushing. In fact, this piping is so brittle that simply squeezing it between your palms will crush the pipe. When roots enter into this pipe running a mechanical snake can create more problems than you started off with. This piping cannot be repaired due to the crushed pipe. In fact, no fittings are made to connect round pipe to oval pipe. Simply put, replacement is your only option.
