The String Lock Removes All Problems above the Nut
Have you ever wondered what happens to the width of the slots in your guitar nut when you change your string gauge? The strings are now binding in the slots because the slots were not cut in for the new string gauges.
In a high quality guitar, the strings continue straight through the nut to the tuners which removes the angle that causes binding and friction between the nut and the strings.
Once all the strings are clamped to one another, the strings prevent each other from moving at the nut and there is no need for the String Lock to be anchored to the wood. Now they all prevent each other from moving through the nut and would need to overcome the total friction generated by all the strings together which to my surprise I found works.
This then allows a guitar player to install our string lock which functions like a Floyd Rose Nut Lock onto any guitar without carving or drilling into the guitar. This preserves the value of the guitar and eliminates many problems from the nut to the head.
You must however have or install a fine tuner at the back of the guitar along with the String Lock.
