In recent years I have seen a change in the focus of houses. The main focus of houses 20 years ago was the living rooms where company would be kept but in this new age the focus has become more on the bathroom. With this new focus on the bathroom, there are new trends in the creation of bathrooms and bathroom remodeling.

One of the biggest changes is around the shower. The newest most popular shower designs are large showers. One of the key focuses here is on the word shower. Baths are becoming more and more obsolete and I can ensure that you will be calling the plumber less often having a shower. Also, to ensure that the shower feels larger, especially when you run out of room to place a bigger shower, they are being made with open plans such as being of all glass.

Another emergence is in the “feel” for bathrooms. The feel for bathrooms is changing in the sense that many are designed with themes in mind which mostly revolve around the idea of happiness. In the actual design of bathrooms this often means large windows or even a sky light to let in the sun in order to provide more natural light to the area. Bathroom remodeling now can be focused not on the sink, toilet, or shower, but on the feel of the bathroom to let in light.

Bathroom projects are also being shaped around the toilet. While the bathroom has before been one room for all needs, now the toilet is becoming privatized. Some install stalls or even place the toilet in a small closet inside the bathroom. This is also done to create more space in the middle of the bathroom so it does not seem more cramped. Where toilets use to protrude into the middle of the bathroom, now they are not even seen.

Another recent trend in bathroom projects is the need for extra storage. The garage is no longer becoming the go to place to hide anything. The garage is now more of an entrance to a house while bathrooms are becoming storage places. Many bathroom remodeling projects are focused around adding a closet or extra storage space to the bathroom area.

One last major trend in bathroom projects is the flooring. One of the most popular is exquisite tile. Where quality flooring was once not wasted on bathrooms, it is now becoming one of the first places that people look to when adding high quality flooring.
