5 Common Causes of a Clogged Toilet

Homes can experience plumbing issues for a variety of reasons. And many of these reasons can end up costing you a lot of money, especially if they are left untreated. There are a variety of different plumbing problems that you may encounter. For example, pipes that are leaking water into your home. However, I would like to talk about probably the most common plumbing issues that you may encounter, a clogged toilet. Toilets can become clogged for a variety of different reasons. I would like to discuss 5 of the more common causes and what you should do to avoid it
1. Hair build up
You may not think that this is an issue, but it is. Hair can lead to a clogged drain over time by flushing it down the toilet. Once it builds up int he toilet drain, it can cause a slow developing clog. In order to prevent this, you should make sure you throw all hair in the garbage and now down the toilet.
2. Women’s products
One of the most common cause of a clogged toilet is women flushing their feminine products down the toilet. This can clog a toilet very quickly. Instead of flushing them down the toilet, they should be discarded in the trash can.

3. Kid’s toys
This can be one of the most frustrating causes of a clogged toilet, but it is a lot
more common than you may think. Kids like to throw their toys in a variety of places, and the toilet seems to be a favorite. In order to prevent this, you just need to watch them closely and keep the bathroom door closed.
4. Paper towels
Just because paper towels and toilet paper are both made from paper, it does not make them the same thing. Paper towels are much thicker and can clog a toilet very easily. Preventing this is easy, don’t flush paper the towels down the toilet.
5. An excess amount of toilet paper
This is possibly the most common cause of a clogged toilet. Sometimes people just don’t pay attention to how much toilet paper they are using. In order to prevent this, pay attention to how much you use, or flush half way through to prevent a build u of toilet paper.
