When remodeling your bathroom or if you are in need of a new toilet, there are now many selections available on the market. Toilet shopping is something you just don’t do every day, however you need to make sure you are buying the best model for your home.
Most hardware stores have toilets which start at around $100. These toilets are a very basic model with no frills. While they will work for some, they may not work for everyone. When placing a toilet there are some options. You can actually get a tank that goes on the wall. These models are very easy to clean and are usually more expensive. What about those who want to have a water saving system? Those interested in water conservation will like the idea of having a toilet that take less than the average system to flush. Here are some of the types of toilets you can purchase and the pros and cons of each one.
Gravity flush toilets are the ones that are typically found in the average home. They take the weight of the water and use that pressure to flush. There is usually an S shaped under the bowl that carries the waste out to the sewer. These are generally economical in price and also easy to get your hands on. The only con is that they can be harder to work on if it clogs. The S shaped bottom, allows things to get lodged. Vacuum-assisted toilets generally will operate like gravity flush. There are a few differences like this style of toilet creates a vacuum to flush the waste, instead of the weight of the water.
Dual flush toilets have two buttons which will allow you to flush, depending on whether you have solid or liquid waste. This is meant to be a water saving system as it does not require as much water to flush liquid waste as oppose to solids. If your toilet is always clogged, you may want to consider a wash down toilet. This type of commode has a large trap on it to prevent clogging. The downside is the waterspout is smaller, so it is likely to need cleaned more often. However, put away the plunger and have a model that is easy to maintain.
